Cigna just announced their 2023 ACA commission schedule! Take a look for yourself below.

Medical Insurance Commissions

Medical commissions apply to all metal levels and plans sold on or off Marketplace. Sales made during an Open Enrollment or a Special Enrollment Period are eligible. Medical commissions will be paid for up to four children on the plan. Advancing is not available.
2023 medical commissions for applications one to four will be paid $0 PMPM until the agent or agency reaches five medical applications. At that time, any new medical sales commissions due will be paid, starting from the first 2023 application. Please be advised eligible producers will be paid commission for existing medical policies scheduled to renew 1/1/2023 under this 2023 commission schedule. Commissions will be paid on posted premiums applied to the agent’s or agency’s clients’ eligible cases.

 Dental Insurance Commissions

The dental commission structure pertains to business with effective dates of 1/1/2023 and after, and commissions will be paid on a monthly as-earned basis as a percentage of the total premium. Business prior to 1/1/2023 will continue with the previous commission structure.

Pediatric EHB dental commissions will be paid at 17% on the first year premium and 5% at renewal, not as indicated above. If policy is terminated prior to its first renewal date, any advanced paid commission may be prorated and recovered by Cigna pursuant to the terms of our contract and subject to applicable law.

Medicare just made a big announcement regarding their Part B Premiums for 2023.

These standard premiums will drop by 3% next year. The monthly premium for Medicare Part B will reduce by $5.20 by 2023. This will also lower the deductible for Part B.

The government made this announcement on Tuesday, September 27. Here’s more info about this incentive to share with your customers:

Thanks to Medicare Part B’s projected spending on Aduhelm, a medication to battle the onslaught of Alzheimer’s, the premium for this program dropped more than expected. Medicare spent less than expected on Aduhelm, meaning they could spend more on Part B, which in turn led to a reduction in 2023 premiums.

Medicare Part A, on the other hand, raised its deductible per benefit period, which starts upon admission to a hospital, to $1,600 in 2023, from its current amount of $1,556. This amount applies to the first 60 days of inpatient hospital care.

After the 61st day and through the 90th day, however, coinsurance will cost at least $400 a day. The price of coinsurance will go up by $11 from the current amount this year.

Moreover, IRMAAs are effective in January as well, for individuals with a gross income of over $97,000. Those filing jointly must expect an extra monthly charge if their net income is over $194,000 instead of 2022’s ceiling of $182,000.

Another reason to look forward to January if you are enrolled with D-SNP and C-SNP?

Starting in January 2023, effective with AEP, you can begin to earn $125 whenever you enroll your Cigna Medicare Customers in any eligible Medicare D-SNP or C-SNP plan.

You will also need to facilitate an HRA, or health risk assessment, with Cigna’s Value Based Enrollment program.

These are the following plans eligible for increased $125 HRA payment:

All Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNP)

All Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNP)

Cigna True Choice Medicare or PPO, H7849-079, in Illinois counties of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kankakee, Lake, McHenry, and Will.

In addition to the payments of $125 for HRA enrollments in the above list of eligible plans, an additional $75 will be possible for each HRA you conduct with each Cigna Medicare Advantage customer.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

These increased payments for D-SNP and C-SNP enrollments begin January 1, 2023. To qualify as a value-based Enrollment HRA facilitator, you need to be the AOR (Agent of Record) who created the original policy. Moreover, you need to complete VBE HRA training using Producers’ University. Finally, you need to qualify as “Ready to Sell” to be able to finish enrollment with your customer.

HRA submission turn around time will also be extended, from 2 days to 10 days. You need to facilitate and submit the HRA using the HRA tool within 10 days of the customer’s initial application sign date.

These changes starting in January 2023 will mean even more money in your pocket. There will be plenty to look forward to this New Year.
